Applies to: All plans
Before you start: You need access to your client area at my.maxinodes.com and the hosting service you want to cancel. Make sure you have downloaded any files, databases or email data you want to keep before the service ends.
You cancel hosting yourself from your client area by submitting a cancellation request on the service. You choose whether it stops at the end of your current term or immediately. This article explains both, what happens to your data, and how refunds work.
Choose your cancellation type
- End of term (recommended): Your hosting stays active until the date you have already paid through, then it is not renewed. You keep using the site until then and you are not billed again.
- Immediate: Your hosting is terminated straight away. Your website goes offline as soon as it is processed, so only choose this if you no longer need the service.
How to request cancellation
- Log in to your client area at my.maxinodes.com.
- Go to Services -> My Services.
- Click the hosting service you want to cancel to open it.
- On the service page, choose the Request Cancellation option.
- Pick End of Term or Immediate, add a short reason if asked, and submit the request.
Result: You will see the cancellation request recorded on the service and receive a confirmation email. An End of Term request leaves the service active until your paid-through date; an Immediate request is processed by our team shortly after.
If you cannot find the option or you are unsure which date your term ends, open a ticket under Support and we will confirm it for you.
What happens to your data
- When the service terminates, the hosting account and its files, databases and DNS zone are removed from our systems.
- Backups (JetBackup to Backblaze B2) are tied to the live service. Once the account is terminated, do not rely on being able to restore from them — export everything you need first.
- Your domain is separate from hosting. Cancelling hosting does not cancel a domain you registered with us, and domain registrations and renewals are generally non-refundable once registered.
- Your Professional Email (resold Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace) is a separate product. Mailboxes live in the Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace admin console, not on the hosting server, so cancelling hosting does not delete your mailboxes. Cancel email seats separately if you no longer need them.
Refunds and the money-back guarantee
- Every plan — Self-Managed and Managed — is eligible for the 30-day money-back guarantee, on a first-time, eligible plan and on your initial order only. If you cancel a new plan within 30 days of that order, contact us and we will refund the recurring hosting fee for that first term.
- Renewals are not covered. After the 30-day window — and on every later term — the normal approach is an End of Term cancellation so you are simply not billed again; there is nothing further to refund.
- Resold Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace mailboxes are non-refundable once provisioned, as are other third-party items, licences and one-off charges bought through us.
- Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method within approximately 14 days. VAT is not currently charged at checkout, so no VAT is involved in any refund.
To claim the 30-day money-back guarantee, raise a ticket under Support in your client area or email billing@maxinodes.com within the 30 days, and tell us the service and the date you ordered.
Troubleshooting this task
- No Request Cancellation option: Make sure you opened the specific hosting service under Services -> My Services, not the domain or an add-on. If it is still missing, open a Support ticket.
- You changed your mind: If your request has not yet been processed, open a Support ticket and ask us to reverse it.
- You only want a smaller plan, not to leave: You do not need to cancel — see How to upgrade or downgrade your plan instead.
