Billing cycles and how much you save

Applies to: All plans (Self-Managed and Managed)

You can pay for hosting monthly, or for 12 or 24 months up front. A new order on a 12 or 24-month term is charged a discounted price for that first term, once per customer. After the first term, the plan renews for a term of the same length at its renewal price, which is higher than the first-term price but lower per month than paying monthly. Monthly billing has no first-term discount.

The billing cycles we offer

Three-year (36-month) billing is no longer offered. Plan links on maxinodes.com select 12 months, and you can choose 1 month or 24 months at checkout. The price for your cycle, the total you pay for the first term and the renewal price are always shown on the order form before you confirm.

Prices are in euro, and no VAT is added. Managed Enterprise is quoted per project, from €149/mo, with its term agreed in the quote; the first-term prices above do not apply to it. See How to request a quote (Enterprise or custom).

Worked example: Self-Managed Lite

• Monthly: €11.99 every month.
• 12 months: €1.49/mo for the first 12 months (€17.88), then €8.99/mo (€107.88 every 12 months).
• 24 months: €3.99/mo for the first 24 months (€95.76), then €8.99/mo (€215.76 every 24 months).

In the cart and on your first invoice, the plan is listed at its renewal price for the term, followed by a line "Discount for the first 12 months" (or "Discount for the first 24 months") that brings the amount down to the first-term price. In your client area, the service shows the renewal price as its recurring amount.

Who gets the first-term price

• New orders on a 12 or 24-month term. The discount is applied in the cart automatically; there is no code to enter.
• Once per customer. If your account has already had a first-term price on any plan, a later 12 or 24-month order is charged at the renewal price from the start.
• Not on monthly billing, not on upgrades or downgrades, and not when an existing service switches from monthly to a longer term. Monthly billing and a switch from monthly are at regular prices, and a plan change is prorated from what you actually paid for your current term.

How renewals work

• Same term, renewal price. A 12-month plan renews for 12 months and a 24-month plan for 24 months, at the renewal price shown when you ordered. We will not charge a higher renewal price than that unless we have told you at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel free of charge before it does.
• A notice before a higher renewal. If a renewal will cost more than the last amount you paid for that service (for example, the first renewal after a first-term price), we email you at least 30 days before the renewal date. The email gives the new amount and term, says whether automatic payment is on, and explains how to cancel or switch to monthly billing. It comes in addition to the renewal invoice. If automatic payment is on, we also email you before the charge whenever a renewal costs more or less than the last amount you paid for that service or domain.
• Switching to monthly. Before the renewal date, email billing@maxinodes.com or open a request in our Help Center at support.maxinodes.com. The plan then renews month by month at its monthly price.
• Cancelling. Cancel renewal in your client area before the renewal date, and the service stops at the end of the term you have paid for. If automatic payment has already charged a renewal and you cancel that service or domain before the invoice's due date, we refund that renewal in full.

Free domain for the first year

Self-Managed Pro, Managed Growth and Managed Business, ordered on a 12 or 24-month term, include one domain ending in .com, .eu, .de, .org or .net, registered free for its first year. It is not free on monthly billing or with other plans. Add the domain in the same order as the plan.

• The domain renews every year at that domain's standard price shown when you order, billed separately from hosting. On a 24-month plan its first renewal falls at month 12, before the plan renews. That renewal costs more than you paid for the domain's first year, so we email you at least 30 days before it.
• If you claim the 30-day money-back guarantee on the plan, the domain's regular price is deducted from the refund, and the domain stays registered to you for the rest of its first year.

Good to know

• No VAT is added. VAT/tax is not charged at checkout today, so no VAT is added to the prices above or to your invoice total. You can still add a VAT number and business details to your profile now.
• Fewer invoices to catch. Invoices are paid by card or in cryptocurrency, per invoice, and unless you turn on automatic payment nothing is charged to you automatically, so a longer cycle means fewer payments to remember.
• Add-ons are at their regular price. Add-ons and configurable options follow your plan's billing cycle at their regular price, including during a first term. See Add-ons and their prices.
• Domains renew on their own cycle. Domain registrations and renewals are billed and renewed separately from hosting, and domain fees are non-refundable once registered or renewed, with one exception: if automatic payment has charged a domain renewal and you cancel that domain before the invoice's due date, we refund that renewal in full.
• Plans you already have. If you had a plan before these prices were introduced, the amount it renews at does not change.
