Applies to: All plans.
Before you start: Have the domain of the service you want to change to hand. We offer three billing cycles: Monthly, 12 months and 24 months. Three-year (36-month) billing is no longer offered.
Your billing cycle is the term you pay for in one go. A change always takes effect from the service's next renewal date, so what you have already paid for the current term does not change. We make the change for you on request: there is no self-service control for it in the client area.
How to change your billing cycle
- Before the service's renewal date, email billing@maxinodes.com or open a request in our Help Center at support.maxinodes.com.
- Tell us the domain or service and the cycle you want: Monthly, 12 months or 24 months.
- We change the cycle and its price on the service and confirm by reply.
- When the renewal invoice for the new cycle arrives, pay it from Billing -> Invoices by card or in cryptocurrency, or let automatic payment charge your saved card if you have turned it on.
Result: From your next renewal date the service is billed on the new cycle, at that cycle's price.
What each change costs
- Monthly to 12 or 24 months: the service renews for the longer term at the plan's renewal price. The first-term price is for new orders only, so it does not apply to a switch.
- 12 or 24 months to monthly: from the renewal date the plan renews month by month at its monthly price.
- 12 months to 24 months, or back: the plan renews for the new term at the renewal price.
The prices for every plan and cycle are in Billing cycles and how much you save. Per month, the renewal price of a 12 or 24-month term is lower than the monthly price, and both terms renew at the same rate per month.
When does the change take effect?
From your next renewal date, not immediately. You keep the time you have already paid for. Ask before the renewal date. Renewal invoices are raised 14 days before the due date. If you are switching from 12 or 24 months to monthly and the 12 or 24-month renewal invoice has already been raised, we replace it with a monthly invoice. If automatic payment has already charged that renewal and you asked to switch before the invoice's due date, we refund the charge and bill the service monthly.
Changing the cycle does not move your service between products or plans, and it does not change your features or limits. To move to a different plan instead (for example Self-Managed Plus to Self-Managed Pro), see the upgrade guide below.
Troubleshooting this task
- You see an invoice you did not expect. A renewal on a 12 or 24-month term is one larger payment for the whole term. Check it under Billing -> Invoices before paying, and if anything looks wrong, email billing@maxinodes.com.
- The renewal costs more than your first payment. If your plan started at a first-term price, it renews at the renewal price. We email you at least 30 days before a renewal like that — see Billing cycles and how much you save.
- You want to keep the current cycle but pay differently. Changing the cycle and updating your payment method are separate tasks — see the related articles.
