Update your payment method in the client area -> Billing -> Payment Methods. You manage every stored payment method from there: add a new one, set which one is used for automatic invoice payments, or remove one you no longer need.
Applies to: All plans.
Before you start: You need your client area login at my.maxinodes.com. You can store a PayPal billing agreement so renewals pay automatically. Card, bank transfer (SEPA) and cryptocurrency payments are made per invoice rather than stored.
Add or change your payment method
- Log in at my.maxinodes.com.
- Go to Billing -> Payment Methods (or open the account menu at the top right and choose Payment Methods).
- Choose to add a new payment method and select PayPal (the method available for automatic renewals).
- You are sent to PayPal to sign in and authorise the agreement. Approve it, and you are returned to the client area.
- If you have more than one method stored, set the one you want as the default for future invoices.
Result: Your PayPal method is saved and shown under Payment Methods. Future invoices set to pay automatically will use it.
Pay an open invoice with a new method
Adding or changing a stored method does not retry an invoice that is already due. To pay an outstanding invoice, open it under Billing -> My Invoices and pay it directly. See How to view and pay an invoice.
Remove a payment method
- Go to Billing -> Payment Methods.
- Select the method you want to remove and choose to delete or cancel it.
- Confirm. The stored agreement is removed from your account.
Result: The method no longer appears, and it will not be charged again.
If you remove your only stored method, automatic payment stops. You can still pay each invoice manually from My Invoices, but your service may be suspended if an invoice goes unpaid — so add a replacement method or pay on time. See Why was my payment declined or my account suspended?.
A note on tax: VAT is not currently charged at checkout, so no tax is added when your method is used. You can still add your VAT number and business details to your profile now — see How to add your VAT number and business details.
Troubleshooting this task
- PayPal sign-in loops or fails: Complete the agreement directly on the PayPal site, then return to the client area. Check that your PayPal account is verified and has a funding source.
- The new method did not pay my overdue invoice: Stored methods only apply to future automatic payments. Pay the open invoice manually under Billing -> My Invoices.
- You only see PayPal here: automatic billing agreements use PayPal. You can still pay any invoice by card, bank transfer or cryptocurrency — those are chosen per invoice, not stored.
- You cannot find Payment Methods: Use the account menu at the top right, or go to Billing. If you manage the account for someone else, ask the primary contact to confirm your access — see How to manage contacts and sub-users on your account.
