Applies to: All plans
Before you start: You need to be logged in to your client area at my.maxinodes.com as the main account holder, and you need the email address of each person you want to add.
You can give other people access to your Maxinodes account without sharing your own password. Add them as contacts (notification-only) or as sub-accounts (a separate login with their own permissions), and choose exactly what each person can see and do — for example, let your accountant handle billing while your developer handles domains and DNS.
Contacts vs sub-accounts
- A contact receives chosen email notifications (invoices, support replies, product or domain emails) but has no login of their own.
- A sub-account is the same record with its own client area login enabled, so the person can sign in and act on the parts of the account you allow.
You manage both in the same place, and you turn a contact into a sub-account simply by setting a password and ticking the permissions.
Add a contact or sub-account
- Sign in to your client area at my.maxinodes.com.
- Open the account/profile menu at the top right and choose Contacts/Sub-Accounts (you may see it labelled Contacts).
- From the Choose Contact dropdown, select Add New Contact.
- Fill in the person's name, email address and any other details.
- To give them a login, tick Activate Sub-Account (or Tick to configure as a sub-account) and set a password.
- Under Permissions, tick only the areas this person should access. Typical options include:
- Modify Master Account Profile
- View & Manage Contacts
- View Products & Services / View & Modify Product Passwords
- View & Pay Invoices (billing)
- View & Manage Domains (domains, DNS, renewals)
- Place New Orders / Upgrades / Cancellations
- Under Email Preferences, choose which notifications this person should receive (general, product, domain or invoice emails).
- Click Save Changes.
Result: The contact appears in the Choose Contact dropdown. If you enabled a sub-account, the person can now sign in at my.maxinodes.com with their own email and password and will only see the areas you allowed.
Edit or remove a contact
- Go back to account/profile menu -> Contacts/Sub-Accounts.
- Pick the person from the Choose Contact dropdown.
- Change their details, permissions or email preferences, then click Save Changes — or click Delete Contact to remove them entirely.
Result: Updated permissions apply at the person's next sign-in. A deleted contact loses any login immediately.
A few things to know
- Permissions are scoped to the client area (billing, services, domains, DNS). They do not control cPanel logins, mailbox logins (each mailbox has its own password) or your Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace email admin — those have their own separate users and consoles. If you need to know exactly which email controls on a service page a sub-account can use, ask us before you rely on it.
- Support sits outside these permissions. Support requests are not raised in the client area: anyone on your account writes to us at support.maxinodes.com or support@maxinodes.com, and no permission tickbox grants or blocks that. If you still see a support-ticket option on this screen, it is a leftover of the old client-area helpdesk and does nothing.
- Only the main account holder should keep full permissions. Give each sub-user the least access they need.
- For security, ask each sub-user to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on their own login.
Troubleshooting this task
- The new person can't log in: Make sure you ticked Activate Sub-Account and set a password — a plain contact has no login. They sign in with their own email, not yours.
- They can see too much or too little: Re-open their contact record and adjust the Permissions tickboxes, then Save Changes.
- They aren't getting emails: Check the Email Preferences tickboxes on their contact record (invoice, product and domain emails are each separate).
- They need cPanel or email access too: That's managed separately — set up cPanel access from the service page. For email, create a mailbox for them on the service page under Email Accounts (or in cPanel -> Email Accounts); they then sign in to webmail or a mail app with that address and its password, with no client-area login needed. If you use Professional Email, add them in your Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace admin console instead.
