We take automated backups of your hosting account, but they are a convenience to help you recover — not a guarantee against data loss. You are responsible for keeping your own independent copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. This page is a plain-English summary; the authoritative version is the full Terms of Service on maxinodes.com.
What do we back up?
We run automated backups with JetBackup, stored on Backblaze B2. What you get depends on your line and plan:
-
Self-Managed (self-restore in cPanel): you restore your own files, databases or full account from cPanel -> JetBackup.
- Self-Managed Lite: weekly backup.
- Self-Managed Plus: daily backups, kept 7 days.
- Self-Managed Pro: daily backups, kept 14 days.
- Managed (daily, 30 days, off-site): daily backups retained for 30 days and stored with a separate provider inside the EU for extra resilience.
If you are on Self-Managed and want longer, off-site retention, you can add the Managed Backups add-on (EUR 5/mo), which upgrades your account to managed 30-day off-site backups.
For the full breakdown, see Backup retention by plan.
Why aren't backups a guarantee?
Because no backup system is perfect, and several things sit outside it. A backup can be too old to contain the data you need, a restore can overwrite recent changes, or a problem (malware, a bad plugin update, an accidental deletion) can be captured in the backup itself before anyone notices. Backups also do not cover everything: for example, your email is Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace and is held with that provider, not in our hosting backup — and your DNS records live in your client area, not in the hosting backup.
Treat our backups as a safety net that usually works, not a promise that it always will.
What is your responsibility?
Keep your own independent backups of anything important. Good practice is to:
- Download a copy of your site from cPanel -> JetBackup or your application's own export tool, and store it somewhere off the server. See How to download a backup of your site.
- Back up before any risky change — a theme or plugin update, a PHP version change, or a bulk content edit.
- Keep your email, DNS and domain settings documented separately, since those are managed outside the hosting backup.
Result: if anything goes wrong, you can recover from our backups and fall back to your own copy.
How do I restore?
You can restore a file or folder, a single database, or a full account from JetBackup in cPanel. See:
On Managed plans, our team can also handle a restore for you as part of your support — just open a chat or ticket with your domain and what you need recovered.
Where is the full policy?
The complete, binding terms covering backups, liability and data loss are in the Terms of Service on maxinodes.com. This Help Center page is only a plain-English summary; if anything here differs from the legal page, the legal page applies.
