This is a plain-English summary of our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) — the rules everyone agrees to when they host with Maxinodes. In short: don't use our platform for anything illegal, abusive, or that harms other customers, and keep your account within its resource limits. This page is a quick guide only. What is the Acceptable Use Policy?
The Acceptable Use Policy is the set of rules that govern how you may use your Maxinodes hosting. It exists to keep the service safe, legal, and reliable for everyone on our shared platform. By ordering or using a service, you agree to it. This summary covers the main themes; the full policy on maxinodes.com sets out the exact terms.
What is not allowed?
In broad terms, you may not use Maxinodes hosting for anything illegal, harmful, or abusive. The policy generally prohibits things like:
- Illegal content or activity — anything unlawful under the laws that apply to you or to us, including content you have no right to distribute.
- Spam and unsolicited messaging — bulk or unsolicited email and similar messaging that breaks anti-spam rules. (Remember: mailboxes are resold Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, and those providers have their own sending policies too.)
- Abuse and malicious activity — malware, phishing, fraud, hacking, denial-of-service attacks, or anything that attacks or harms other people, networks, or systems.
- Resource abuse — using far more than your fair share of the shared platform, or running workloads that degrade service for other customers.

What about resource limits?
Every account runs inside CloudLinux resource limits (CPU, memory, processes, IO and IOPS) so that no single site can affect others. Briefly hitting those limits is normal — visitors may see a temporary 508 "Resource Limit Reached" message that clears on its own, and that is not the same as breaking the AUP. The policy targets deliberate or sustained abuse, not the occasional spike. If you regularly hit your limits, the fix is to optimise your site or upgrade your plan, not a policy issue. What happens if the policy is breached?
A breach of the Acceptable Use Policy can lead to action against your account, up to and including suspension or termination. Depending on how serious the issue is, we may contact you to fix it, suspend the affected service, or — in serious cases such as illegal content or active abuse — suspend or terminate without prior notice to protect the platform and others. Where the law requires, we may also be obliged to report certain activity. The full policy explains the exact range of actions we can take.
