Applies to: Self-Managed plans only. Managed plans already include daily, off-site, 30-day backups, so this add-on is not needed (and not offered) on Managed.
The Managed Backups add-on costs EUR 5/mo and upgrades a Self-Managed account from your plan's standard backups to daily, off-site backups kept for 30 days. It gives a Self-Managed account the same backup safety net that comes built in on our Managed plans.
What you get for EUR 5/mo
| Feature | Standard Self-Managed backups | With Managed Backups (EUR 5/mo) |
|---|---|---|
| Backup frequency | Daily on Plus and Pro; weekly on Lite | Daily |
| Retention (how far back you can restore) | Lite weekly snapshot; Plus 7 days; Pro 14 days | 30 days |
| Backup location | Off-server (Backblaze B2) | Off-site (a separate provider inside the EU) |
| How it is run | Your plan's standard backup job | A dedicated backup job we run for your account |
| Self-restore in cPanel (JetBackup) | Yes | Yes |
In short, the add-on extends your retention to a rolling 30 days, makes backups daily on every Self-Managed plan, and stores them with a separate provider inside the EU for extra resilience.
How the backups work
We use JetBackup, which writes backups to off-site object storage (Backblaze B2). Those backups are held by a separate provider, inside the EU, on infrastructure independent of the servers your site runs on, so a problem affecting our hosting platform does not take your backups with it.
You still restore the same way: open cPanel from your service in the client area, open the JetBackup tool, choose a snapshot, and restore a single file or folder, a database, or the whole account. The add-on does not change how you restore — it only gives you more snapshots to choose from (up to 30 days back) and a safer storage location.
Good to know
- This is not a full SLA. Self-Managed is our self-serve line with no uptime SLA and no service credits. The add-on improves your backups only; it does not add monitoring, managed patching, or an account manager. For those, look at our Managed plans.
- Keep your own independent backups too. No hosting backup is a substitute for your own copy. Download a backup of your site regularly and store it somewhere you control.
- Email is not in these backups. Mailboxes live in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, not on our hosting server, so they are backed up by that provider — not by this add-on.
- DNS is unaffected. Your DNS records are managed by us, on our own nameservers, and edited in the client area — separate from the hosting account, so a restore does not change them.
How to add it
You add Managed Backups as a recurring add-on to your Self-Managed service in the client area, under client area -> Services -> My Services. Open the service, look for the add-ons or configurable-options section, and select Managed Backups.
Everything after that happens on its own. Once the add-on is active your account is moved onto its dedicated daily 30-day backup job, and taken off your plan's standard job at the same time — so you end up with one set of backups, not two. There is nothing to configure, and no ticket to open. Your first managed backup is taken on the next scheduled daily run, and the 30-day window fills out as those daily backups accumulate.
If you later remove the add-on, the change is reversed automatically and your account goes back to your plan's standard backup schedule and retention.
Result: Once active, your Self-Managed account is backed up daily, kept for 30 days, and stored off-site — the same backup standard as our Managed plans.
A note on billing: the add-on is EUR 5/mo and follows your service's billing cycle. You can pay by PayPal, card, bank transfer (SEPA) or cryptocurrency, and no VAT is added at checkout at present.
