Applies to: All plans
Before you start: You need access to your client area at my.maxinodes.com and an active hosting service. The easiest way in is single sign-on from the client area — you do not need to remember a separate cPanel password.
cPanel is the control panel for one hosting account, where you manage files, databases, FTP, subdomains, PHP versions and SSL. The quickest way to open it is to sign in to your client area and click through — no separate password required.
Log in to cPanel from your client area (recommended)
- Go to my.maxinodes.com and Login to your client area.
- Open Services -> My Services.
- Click the hosting service you want to manage.
- On the service page, click Log in to cPanel.
Result: cPanel opens in a new tab, already signed in to that hosting account.
This single sign-on is the simplest route because it skips the cPanel username and password entirely.
Log in to cPanel directly (by URL)
If you prefer a direct link, you can reach cPanel at either of these addresses:
-
https://yourdomain/cpanel (replace
yourdomainwith your own domain) - The server hostname on port 2083
You will be asked for your cPanel username and password. If you do not know them, use single sign-on above instead, or reset the password (see below).
Reset your cPanel password
Reset the cPanel password from the service page in your client area:
- Go to Services -> My Services and open the hosting service.
- Find the password option on the service page and set a new cPanel password.
Result: Your new password applies to direct cPanel logins and FTP for that account.
What belongs in cPanel vs your client area
Keep these two panels straight — many tasks live in the client area, not cPanel.
Use cPanel for: File Manager, FTP, subdomains, addon domains, databases (MySQL / phpMyAdmin), cron jobs, PHP version, SSL tools and metrics. On Self-Managed plans, self-restore backups also live here (via JetBackup).
Use your client area (my.maxinodes.com) for: invoices and payments, viewing or changing your plan, cancelling, domains, DNS records, and support.
Two important exceptions:
- DNS records are managed in your client area (our DNS is managed by us, on our own nameservers), not in the cPanel zone editor.
- Email is not hosted on the cPanel server. There is no cPanel webmail. Mailboxes are resold Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace and are managed in their own admin consoles.
Troubleshooting this task
- "Log in to cPanel" button is missing or greyed out — your service may still be provisioning or may be suspended. Check the service status in Services -> My Services.
- Direct login (port 2083) is rejected — confirm your cPanel username and password, or use single sign-on from the client area instead. Reset the password from the service page if needed.
- You reached a "Not secure" warning at the direct URL — make sure you are using https:// and the correct domain or server hostname.
- You meant to change billing, your plan, DNS or email — those are not in cPanel. Use your client area (or the relevant email admin console) instead.
