Applies to: All plans
Before you start: You need access to your client area at my.maxinodes.com and a way to pay — invoices are settled by card or in cryptocurrency; see What payment methods can I use?. Have your registrant contact details (name, address, email) to hand, as they are required for every domain.
You register a new domain from your client area — Maxinodes is a domain reseller, so you can search, buy and manage domains in the same place you manage your hosting. Here is how.
Register a domain
- Log in to your client area at my.maxinodes.com.
- Go to Domains -> Register a New Domain (you may also reach the domain search from the Dashboard or by starting a new order).
- Type the domain name you want and run the search.
- If the domain is available, add it to your cart. If it is taken, the search will suggest available alternatives — pick one or try a different name.
- Choose your registration period (for example, 1 year) and review any options shown for the domain, such as domain privacy / WHOIS protection.
- Continue to checkout, confirm your registrant contact details, and pay the invoice by card or in cryptocurrency.
Result: Once payment clears, the domain is registered to you and appears under Domains -> My Domains in your client area. You can manage its DNS records, auto-renew, EPP/auth code and other settings from there.
After you register
- DNS and nameservers. A domain registered with us can be pointed at your hosting. Our nameservers are ns1.maxinodes.com and ns2.maxinodes.com, and you manage DNS records (A, CNAME, MX, TXT, and so on) in the client area, not in cPanel. See the related articles below.
- Email. Registering a domain on its own does not create mailboxes. Mailboxes come with every hosting plan: create them on your hosting service page under Email Accounts. If you need shared calendars, Teams or shared drives, choose Professional Email (Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace) instead. See Email at Maxinodes: your mailboxes, or Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace.
A free domain with some hosting plans
Self-Managed Pro, Managed Growth and Managed Business, ordered on a 12 or 24-month term, include one domain ending in .com, .eu, .de, .org or .net, registered free for its first year. To use it, add the domain in the same order as the plan; a domain ordered on its own, with monthly billing or with another plan is charged as normal. From its second year the domain renews every year at its standard price, billed separately from hosting, and we email you at least 30 days before that first renewal. See Billing cycles and how much you save.
A note on refunds
Domain registrations and renewals are generally non-refundable once the domain has been registered, because the registry charge is incurred immediately and cannot be reversed. The one exception: if automatic payment has already charged a domain renewal and you cancel that renewal before the invoice's due date, we refund it in full. Please double-check the spelling and extension before you confirm payment. This is separate from the hosting money-back guarantee — that covers the hosting service, not domains. If you claim the hosting money-back guarantee on a plan that came with a free domain, the domain's regular price is deducted from the refund, and the domain stays registered to you for the rest of its first year.
Troubleshooting this task
- The domain you want is taken. Choose one of the suggested alternatives, try a different extension (for example .net or .ie instead of .com), or consider transferring it if you already own it elsewhere.
- Payment will not complete. If a payment is declined, retry from your payment provider or contact us.
- You meant to move an existing domain to us. That is a transfer, not a fresh registration — see the related article on transferring a domain in.
