I can't log in (client area, cPanel, WordPress or email)

The fix depends on which login is failing — and they are four different accounts with four different passwords. Work out which one you mean first, then jump to that section. Resetting your client area password will not fix a cPanel, WordPress or mailbox login, and vice versa.

The four logins are: your client area (billing portal at my.maxinodes.com), cPanel (your hosting control panel), WordPress (the admin of your website at /wp-admin) and your email. A mailbox included with your plan signs in with its full email address and its own password, in a mail app or in webmail. If your email is Professional Email (Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace), you sign in at Microsoft or Google instead. They are all separate.

Symptoms

  • "Invalid login", "Incorrect password" or "Login failed" at my.maxinodes.com.
  • You reach cPanel's login screen and your password is rejected.
  • "The username or password you entered is incorrect" on a WordPress /wp-admin page.
  • The password is accepted but it asks for a 2FA / authenticator code you no longer have.
  • The page just reloads or loops without an error (usually a cookie/cache issue).
  • Your mail app or webmail refuses a mailbox password, or a mail app that worked yesterday keeps asking for it.

Common causes (most likely first)

  1. Wrong login for the wrong door. People most often try their client area password at cPanel, or their cPanel password at WordPress. Each is separate.
  2. A genuinely forgotten or mistyped password. Caps Lock, a saved/autofilled old password, or a trailing space.
  3. Lost 2FA device. You set up two-factor on the client area or cPanel and changed phones.
  4. Browser cookies/cache or an extension blocking the sign-in (causes the silent reload loop).
  5. A temporary mail lock. Several wrong mailbox passwords in a row — often from an old phone or laptop that still has the previous password saved — lock that mailbox for a few minutes, even for the right password.

First: confirm it's not a quick fix

Before resetting anything, try these — they clear most cases in seconds:

  1. Check Caps Lock and re-type the password slowly. Click the "show password" eye icon if there is one.
  2. Clear an autofilled old password. Delete the pre-filled field and type the password by hand.
  3. Try a private/incognito window (or another browser). This rules out cookies, cache and extensions — the usual cause of a login page that just reloads.

Result: If you can now sign in, you're done. If not, use the right reset below.

Fix 1 — Client area (my.maxinodes.com)

This is the billing portal where you pay invoices and manage services.

  1. Go to the login page at my.maxinodes.com.
  2. Click the Forgot Password? link below the login form.
  3. Enter the email address on your account. We send a reset link to that address.
  4. Open the link and set a new password.

Result: You can sign in to your client area with the new password.

Locked out by 2FA? If your authenticator app is gone, use the backup codes you saved when you enabled 2FA. No backup codes? Contact us — we verify your identity and remove 2FA so you can set it up again.

Fix 2 — cPanel (the hosting control panel)

You almost never need the cPanel password day to day: open cPanel by single sign-on from your service page instead.

  1. Log in to your client area at my.maxinodes.com.
  2. Go to Services -> My Services and open your hosting service.
  3. Click Log in to cPanel — this opens cPanel with no password required.

If you do need to reset the cPanel password (for example, to use FTP/SFTP, which shares it):

  1. On the same service page, find the option labelled Change Password.
  2. Set a new strong password and save.

Fix 3 — WordPress (your website's /wp-admin)

WordPress is your website's admin, not a Maxinodes account — we don't hold this password. There are two ways to reset it.

The easy way — email reset:

  1. Go to https://yourdomain/wp-login.php.
  2. Click Lost your password?, enter your username or admin email, and follow the emailed link.

If the reset email never arrives (a common WordPress mail issue), reset it from your hosting instead:

  1. Open cPanel via Log in to cPanel from your service page.
  2. Open phpMyAdmin and select your site's database.
  3. Open the users table (it is usually wp_users, but your install may use a different table prefix). Edit your user row, set a new value in user_pass, and in the Function dropdown choose MD5 before saving.

Result: You can sign in at /wp-admin with the new password.

Fix 4 — Email (a mailbox on your plan)

Each mailbox has its own password, and the username is always the full email address, for example info@yourdomain.com.

  1. Try the mailbox in webmail first: open https://webmail.yourdomain.com, or https://node11.maxinodes.com:2096, which works straight away, and sign in with the full address and the password.
  2. If the password is refused, change it: in the client area, open your hosting service, go to Email Accounts and set a new password for the mailbox (or do it in cPanel -> Email Accounts). On Managed plans we can reset it for you on request.
  3. Update the saved password on every device that uses the mailbox — phones, tablets, laptops and Outlook profiles — then wait 5 minutes before you try again.

Result: Webmail and your mail apps sign in with the new password.

Why the right password can still be refused. After 10 failed logins within 5 minutes, the mailbox is locked for 5 minutes, even for the correct password. One old phone that keeps retrying an old password can lock out every device on the same office network. Separately, if our firewall has blocked your office's IP address (often after repeated failed logins on your own website), mail apps on that network cannot connect at all until someone there opens your website or webmail in a browser and passes the security check. Professional Email (Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace)? Reset the password in the Microsoft 365 admin centre or the Google Workspace admin console. If your seats were ordered through us, contact us and we reset it for you.

If that did not work

  • You've lost access to the account email that all resets are sent to — contact us so we can verify you and help recover access.
  • Still looping on the login page after trying incognito — a security tool or a stale session may be involved; send us your domain and a screenshot.
  • "Account suspended" instead of a login prompt — that's a billing/policy hold, not a password problem. See Why was my payment declined or my account suspended?.

When you contact us, include your domain, which login is failing (client area, cPanel, WordPress or a mailbox, with its address), the exact error text, and when it started.
