Applies to: All plans (the mailboxes included with your hosting, and Professional Email — Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace).
Before you start: Have your full email address and password ready. A mailbox included with your hosting plan is added as an IMAP (or POP) account, with our mail server's settings. Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace is added as a Microsoft Exchange or Google account, and the provider supplies all the server settings automatically.
Not sure which you have? If you read your webmail at webmail.yourdomain.com or node11.maxinodes.com:2096, your mailbox is included with your hosting. If you read it at outlook.office.com, you are on Microsoft 365. If you read it at mail.google.com, you are on Google Workspace.
Mailbox included with your hosting plan
-
Username: the full email address, for example
you@yourdomain.com, with the mailbox's own password -
Incoming mail: IMAP, server
mail.yourdomain.com, port993, SSL/TLS (or POP3, port995, SSL/TLS) -
Outgoing mail (SMTP): server
mail.yourdomain.com, port465with SSL/TLS, or port587with STARTTLS; authentication required, with the same username and password
Until the free certificate for mail.yourdomain.com is issued (once your domain points to us), use node11.maxinodes.com as the incoming and outgoing server instead; the ports, username and password stay the same. In the client area, Email Accounts -> Account Configuration Details shows these settings for each mailbox. See also Mail app settings for your mailbox (IMAP, POP3, SMTP).
On iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings -> Apps -> Mail -> Mail Accounts (on iOS 17 and earlier, Settings -> Mail -> Accounts).
- Tap Add Account -> Other -> Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, your full email address, the mailbox's password and a description, then tap Next.
- Choose IMAP (or POP).
- Under Incoming Mail Server and under Outgoing Mail Server, enter
mail.yourdomain.comas the host name, your full email address as the user name, and the mailbox's password. Fill in the outgoing user name and password even though they are marked as optional. - Tap Next, wait for the account to be verified, and tap Save.
The Mail app normally picks the secure ports by itself. If sending or receiving fails, open the account in Mail Accounts and check: under Account -> Advanced, Use SSL on and port 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP); under Outgoing Mail Server -> SMTP, the primary server with Use SSL on, authentication Password and port 465 (or 587).
On a Mac (macOS Mail)
- Open the Mail app and choose Mail -> Add Account.
- Select Other Mail Account and click Continue.
- Enter your name, your full email address and the mailbox's password, then click Sign In.
- If Mail can't find the settings by itself, it asks for them: choose IMAP (or POP) as the account type, enter
mail.yourdomain.comas both the incoming and outgoing mail server and your full email address as the user name, then click Sign In. - Tick Mail and click Done.
To check the ports later, open Mail -> Settings -> Accounts, select the account and open Server Settings. Untick Automatically manage connection settings to set port 993 (IMAP) and 465 (SMTP) with Use TLS/SSL on.
Result: Your mailbox appears in Mail and your messages start to download. With IMAP, your folders stay in step with webmail and your other devices.

Troubleshooting this task
- Sign-in keeps failing: confirm the email address and password by signing in to webmail first (see How to open webmail). If webmail works but the app does not, remove and re-add the account. For a mailbox included with your hosting, several wrong attempts lock sign-in to it for five minutes, even with the right password: correct the password on every device that uses the mailbox, then wait five minutes. See My mail app can't connect, or keeps asking for my password.
- It asks for a "mail server" or "IMAP/POP settings": for a mailbox included with your hosting, that's expected: enter the settings listed above. For Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, you picked the wrong account type: delete the account and start again, choosing Microsoft Exchange (Microsoft 365) or Google (Google Workspace) so the provider fills in the servers for you.
- Mail not flowing at all, on any device: your domain's mail DNS records may be missing or wrong. Check your MX, SPF and DKIM records in your client area DNS manager.
-
"Cannot Verify Server Identity" or another certificate warning (mailbox included with your hosting): the certificate for
mail.yourdomain.comhasn't been issued yet. Don't accept the warning: usenode11.maxinodes.comas the incoming and outgoing server until it is. - Receiving works, but sending fails (mailbox included with your hosting): make sure the outgoing server has your full email address and password filled in, and uses port 465 with SSL or port 587.
- You just changed your DNS or moved providers: allow time for the change to take effect — usually minutes to a few hours, up to ~24–48 hours in the worst case.
